There’s a very specific feeling right before people start arriving to an event.

Music is on.
Glasses are set.
Someone on the team is still adjusting one centerpiece for absolutely no reason other than “it feels off.”

After doing events for this long, I still love that moment.

Not because everything is perfect (something always comes up), but because it’s the only calm moment before a room completely changes energy.
An empty space turning into something full of conversation and movement never really gets old.

For a few quiet minutes, everything feels still.
The candles are lit, the tables are set, the music is low, and the room is just waiting for the energy to arrive.

Then conversations start, people settle in, and suddenly the entire space feels alive.

One of my favorite parts of this work is getting to watch that transition happen — especially in some of the beautiful venues and spaces we’re lucky enough to work in around the DMV. Every setup has its own atmosphere, and seeing it all come together never really gets old.
